Welcome
I would like to welcome everyone back to school at the start of this new school year. Please do not hesitate to ask me if there are any matters you wish to discuss. I am usually outside in the playground before and after school, if you wish to speak to me then. If you need longer to speak to me, or if matters are confidential or private, please make an appointment. You can make arrangements with me directly or by telephone or by calling at the school office. I will always try to see parents as soon as possible.
School Parent Governors
With this letter you should receive an invitation to apply to become a Parent Governor for the school. We have five places for parents on the Governing Body and there are currently four places vacant. The letter outlines the official position regarding application, responsibilities, etc. I thought it would be worthwhile to assure any parents considering making an application that the Governing Body are very welcoming and it gives parents a say in the running of the school.
There are three main meetings a year and then some Governors are on smaller committees which meet occasionally to discuss matters like Finance, Staffing, Curriculum, etc. Please feel free to discuss this with me if you are unsure whether to apply or not. I look forward to your applications.
School uniform
Thank you to everyone who has made such a great effort with their child’s school uniform. The pupils look really smart.
Attendance and lateness
There are many reasons why it is vitally important that children attend school regularly, not least being the positive effects on their learning and progress. Please work with us to ensure that your child’s attendance is good and that they are at school in good time each and every day. The best time to arrive is sometime just after 8.50am and before 9.00am. Thank you for your help.
Speedmark Football Sponsor
Thank you for your fantastic efforts at the end of last term. I can tell you that we have raised over £1500 for the hospital wards chosen as our charities to benefit from the sponsor. The footballs for children who collected over £30 in sponsor money are now in school and will be inflated and sent out as soon as possible.
