13th June 2006

Dear Parent,

Walking bus:

On Wednesday 14th June (this Wednesday), as part of the national road safety scheme, we are taking part in a country-wide walking bus event. Walking buses are organised to help children get to and from school safely and the idea of the event is to raise pupil awareness on the importance of staying safe near roads.

We will be walking in pairs around the school field and our number of walkers will be added to the national total. We are also having a collection on the day for road safety awareness. Any contributions will be collected by staff from children at the start of the day. (Contributions could be from as little as 20p/50p etc)

World Cup:

As you will know, we will shortly be sending out our school uniform information leaflets. We are currently encouraging all pupils to wear their school colours/uniform. However, we thought it would be a nice idea if we could recognise the world cup (I’m sure you’ve noticed it!!). Any child who wants to, may wear a football shirt on any school day when England have a game. This would currently mean this Thursday15th June and a week today, Tuesday 20th June. Of course, when England progress to the next rounds these will also be “football shirt” days (how’s that for confidence?).

Thank you,

Alan Scott
