Easter holiday

School closes for Easter this Friday, 30th March at 3.15pm

School re-opens after Easter on Monday 16th April at 9.00am

School Security

With this newsletter you will find another sheet outlining changes to the entrance area to school. These changes came about following advice from Education Leeds Buildings/Security division. We asked for a review of our building layout following concerns about the ease in which strangers could gain access to the building if they wished to. We need to balance our desire to be as open as possible for parents, with the need to provide the best security arrangements that we possibly can.

I am sure that parents will welcome the improved security arrangements, even though it will mean no access through school for parents because of the electronically controlled doors which are to be installed at the entrance to the corridors to Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

Year 6 SAT tests

The year 6 SAT tests take place during the week beginning May 14th .  It is essential that all Year 6 pupils attend for the whole week so please avoid booking holidays for this time and let’s keep the children healthy! Children who miss any part of a test cannot take the test again on another day.

Parent Governor Elections

I will be sending out application forms for two Parent Governor places after Easter. If there are more than two applications then an election will be necessary. If there are only two applications, then the two parents will be elected automatically.

It is really important that parents are fully represented on the Governing Body, as the Governors are ultimately responsible for decisions regarding the running of the school. I would encourage all parents to consider applying.

I will send out letters and forms after Easter. Please do not hesitate to ask me if you have any questions about the role of Parent Governor.

On behalf of all the staff at Brownhill, may I take this opportunity to wish you a lovely Easter.
