The Children:  Admissions

We like children to come to NURSERY after their 3rd birthday.   The main times in the year that children start Nursery will be September and January.   We ask parents to visit school after their child’s 3rd birthday and we also hope to visit you at home so we can share information about your child and Nursery.   When children start, we encourage mum - and/or dad - to stay with their child for their first Nursery session.   Sessions are either morning or afternoon.

Before your child’s 5th birthday you will receive a form from Leeds City Council inviting you to choose a Primary School for your child to attend full-time.

If, as we hope, you choose Brownhill, there are two times in the year your child may start in the RECEPTION CLASS.   This depends on your child’s birthday.

For children who have their 5th birthday between September and March school will start after the summer holidays in September.

For children who have their 5th  birthday between April and August, school will start in January.

You will be invited into school a few weeks before your child starts, to talk with the Reception class teachers and be introduced to general school organisation.
